JUNE 28, 2016 - BARRIE, ON: The Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board (SMCDSB) and Nipissing University have reached an agreement, which enables Nipissing students to use available classroom and gymnasium space at St. Dominic Catholic Secondary School in Bracebridge. The space will be made available to the university after scheduled classes are over at St. Dominic for the day. Nipissing students will use the space from September to December 2016.

"This is an excellent example of how we can use partnerships to provide new opportunities within our Muskoka community. I received my Masters of Education from Nipissing University and was the principal at St. Dominic's and so it is particularly exciting for me to see this partnership come together," said Brian Beal, Director of Education. "I really feel this is a win-win for both organizations - we help Nipissing meet the needs of their student population here in Bracebridge and our school has the opportunity to make use of available space."

"Thank you to the school board and to St. Dominic's for accommodating our students as they complete their education degree in Bracebridge," said Carole Richardson, Dean of the Schulich School of Education. "We want to ensure our students' needs are met and St. Dominic's is a beautiful school, which will serve our students well."

Developing mutually beneficial community partnerships is part of SMCDSB's commitment to making the best possible use of its facilities and resources.
