The Olympic dreams of St. Thomas of Aquinas Catholic Secondary School student Deanne Rose have come true!
The Canadian Soccer Association announced that Deanne will be among the 18 athletes playing for the Canadian Women’s National Soccer Team at the games taking place in Brazil August 5 to 21.
Deanne is the youngest member of the team, and big on talent. She will have the unwavering support of her friends and family as she pursues Olympic glory, but also the support of her school community and our board as we cheer her on and pray for victory on the soccer field in Brazil.
As reported in an earlier story, the national team qualified for the Olympic games at the 2016 CONCACAF Women's Olympic Qualifying Championship in Texas in February, where Deanna scored three goals in two games.
Congratulations Deanne and we hope to see you and your teammates on the podium in August, accepting a medal of any colour for Canada!
