Earlier this month, St. Antoine Daniel Catholic School in Victoria Harbour, was approached by Tay Township Councillor, Catherine Root, to help promote Tay Bike Day, held on June 18. Soon after, principal George Luck, was contacted by Canadian Tire Jumpstart - a charity that helps children with financial barriers participate in sports and physical activity. They wanted to know if any students and families would benefit from a bicycle. He and his staff were able to finalize 47 students and siblings who would receive a new bicycle, helmet and lock.

On June 6, Jumpstart, along with Tay Fire, OPP, Canadian Tire and staff and volunteers, were at St. Antoine Daniel to present the children with their new bicycle and equipment. It was an amazing experience to see so many smiling faces from the students and their families.

Since the event, St. Antoine Daniel has started an after-school bicycling club to help students and families get active on the great Tay Trail in the area.

After much anticipation, on Saturday, June 18, staff, students and families gathered with their community for Tay Bike Day. Everyone was able to get outside on their bikes and explore the beautiful area.

We would like to thank Jumpstart for helping so many students and families across Canada.
