We value what our students have to say about their education and their school experience. Our Board has a Student Senate with student representatives from each of our nine secondary schools. This group of students meet several times during the school year with our Superintendent of Secondary Schools and the two Student Trustees. At these meetings they learn from each other, discuss the role of the Student Senate and other issues of importance to students, as well as learn from key guest speakers.
The Student Senate is also responsible for selecting one secondary student to become one of two Student Trustees who represents the interests of students and gives them a meaningful voice at our Board meetings. The Student Trustees are responsible for ensuring that the students in our schools are well represented at the Board of Trustee meetings.
Students are selected at the school level, here it is decided who to send from school councils to the Student Senate meeting in the spring. Please contact your school for more information.
