Every week, we celebrate SMCDSB staff members who have been recognized by a parent, student, or colleague.
This week, we celebrate Drew Taylor, a special education
resource teacher-coach (SERT) at St. Joseph’s Catholic High School. Drew was nominated by a colleague who said:
“Coach Taylor gives tirelessly to the SJO community. During the day, he serves the Jags community as a SERT. Mr. Taylor is always positive and welcoming to the students he works with. Before and After school, Coach Taylor can routinely be found in the gym, working with young athletes.
This past March, Coach Taylor led his senior boys' Basketball Team to an OFSAA Gold and a Provincial Championship. This lofty feat is rare for SMCDSB and puts Coach Taylor in the rarified company of fellow Gold Medal Coaches such as De Olivera and Payton.
Drew Taylor is an amazing ambassador of Jags Athletics and CSASC sports. SJO, CSASC, and GBSSA are lucky to have him as part of our team and community.”
This week, we also celebrate Trina Dion, a St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic School teacher. Trina was nominated by a parent who said:
“Ms. Dion demonstrates great compassion and commitment to her students. Our son is in her Grade 2 class this year and struggling socially. Ms. Dion goes above and beyond to create a caring environment in her classroom. But what really blew me away is that she stayed in on recess and gave up her limited free time to play a game with our son on a day he was really struggling and feeling anxious. Thank you so much, Ms. Dion. It warms my heart to know our son is in such caring hands.”
This week, we also celebrate Stacey Levely, a St. Joan of
Arc Catholic High School teacher. Stacey was nominated by a colleague and parent who said:
“Both of my daughters have had the privilege of having Mr. Levely as their teacher. He makes learning fun and easy to remember. He provides opportunities for students to improve their marks. Mr. Levely's teaching is not contained within the classroom - he helps his students even after they have graduated from JOA. My daughter needed help with an assignment at university. A quick email to Mr. Levely was all that was needed to get clarification and ideas for a university-level essay. Mr. Levely makes connections with his students on a personal level. Mr. Levely is a teacher that students will remember long after they graduate. SMCDSB and students are lucky to have a teacher like Mr. Levely - someone who enjoys his job, cares about his students, and makes learning fun.”
We would like to thank Drew, Trina, and Stacey for their commitment to Catholic education at our board.
