Celebrating Staff LogoEvery week we celebrate SMCDSB staff members who have been recognized by a parent, student, or colleague.

This week we are celebrating Rachel Dufort, a teacher atRachel Dufort  St. Noel Chabanel Catholic School. Rachel was nominated by a colleague who said:

“Rachel is an incredible mentor and an amazing teaching partner. She puts others before herself by checking in with others daily. She takes time to listen, is very empathic, and comes up with solutions to problems effectively. I look forward to coming to work because I know Rachel will be there with a positive attitude! She is a true Catholic leader within our school. Thank you for everything you do Rachel to make SNC a better place!”

Natalie Rogers StraneyThis week we are also celebrating Natalie Rogers Straney, a teacher at Holy Trinity Catholic High School. Natalie was nominated by a student and a colleague who said:

“Mrs. Straney was my dance teacher in Grade 10. She is an absolute joy to be around and made class every day amazing. Mrs. Straney made me feel safe in class and I felt supported every day. She taught me many valuable lessons that I will take with me for the rest of my life. As a student who struggles with anxiety in the classroom, Mrs. Straney made the classroom a safe place for me and I always felt very happy in the classroom. I looked forward to going to Mrs. Straney's dance class every day. There was always laughter in the classroom and Mrs. Straney always had the biggest smile on her face. Mrs. Straney is an amazing teacher and makes HT a wonderful place!”

“Natalie takes on a great supportive role within our school in and outside of our learning commons. She spends as much time as she can on helping students and other teachers always with a smile on her face. Her kindness spreads to those around her, and her patience shows no bounds. Natalie holds up our community in a way that few can, she holds space for those that need extra help to grow and succeed. Our school is better because of her.”

We would like to thank Rachel and Natalie for their commitment to Catholic education at our board.
