Celebrating Staff LogoEvery week we celebrate SMCDSB staff members who have been recognized by a parent, student, or colleague.

This week we are celebrating Jismon Kiliyambrayil Jismon Sebastian, an ICT technician - SEA at the Catholic Education Centre. Jismon was nominated by a colleague who said:

“Jismon truly shines in our IT team. His dedication to handling special needs claims for the board is exemplary. Despite the demanding nature of his role, Jismon goes above and beyond, always willing to assist and share his expertise with the team. His commitment and willingness to lend a hand make him a valuable asset, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment. We're lucky to have Jismon on our team, and his excellence deserves recognition.”

EAs and DECEs at NODThis week we are also celebrating Jill Swift, Lisa Della-Rocca, Andrea Morris and Marina Nunziato designated early childhood educators (DECE) and educational assistants at Notre Dame Catholic School. Jill, Lisa, Andrea, and Marina were nominated by a parent who said:

“I am a mother of twin boys who attend Notre Dame Catholic School in Orillia. I would like to celebrate the wonderful DECE, and both EAs who work with my boys.

They have gone above and beyond in taking care of my boys, who are both on the spectrum. They have progressed so much, socially, in their cognitive skills, academics, and verbal communication. Mrs. Morris and Mrs. Nunziato make such an amazing team. Mrs. Swift and Mrs. Della Rocca have gone to such great lengths in helping my boys out, they have taken the boys' interests and have adhered to the classroom program so that my boys stay focused and self-regulated through the school day. All the boys talk about is their amazing classroom teachers and EAs and they ask every night “Can I go to school?”

I’m forever grateful for them, and have them be a part of my “village” in raising my boys as a single mother.”

Lisa TheriaultThis week we are also celebrating Lisa Theriault, a teacher at St. Dominic Catholic Secondary School. Lisa was nominated by a parent who said:

“We are grateful for your unwavering support and encouragement for our daughter Kiki. Your teaching style, filled with empathy and patience, has helped her pass through the most difficult period of her life.

Thank you for being more than just a teacher – you are a mentor, a guide, and a source of inspiration. Your passion for education and your commitment to fostering a positive learning experience have made a significant difference in her life, and she is truly fortunate to have had you as her religion teacher throughout high school. Kiki always says "There is one more person who understands me after my family".

We wish you all the very best, and may you shine in your career...many blessings to you and your family!”

We would like to thank Jismon, Lisa T., and Jill, Lisa D.R., Andrea, and Marina for their commitment to Catholic education at our board.
