Every week we celebrate SMCDSB staff members who have been recognized by a parent, student or colleague.

This week we are celebrating Clare Yarwood, a Designated Early Childhood Educator (DECE) from St. Mary's Catholic School in Collingwood who has recently taken a new role at St. Bernadette Catholic School. Clare was nominated by a colleague who said:

clare yarwood“Clare is an incredible person, friend, and kindergarten partner. I have had the pleasure of teaching with her for the last several years. She has brought sparkle, laughter, compassion, and song to our classroom. I have learned so much from her over the years. She touches each student and colleague with her caring and empathetic nature. Recently she went back to school while continuing to work each day. After two years of dedication and hard work, she will be changing her position and moving into the teaching role. Congratulations to Clare for recently receiving her OCT.  She will be an amazing teacher and will touch many lives to come. I am so glad for her but will miss her so much.  I will try to keep her sparkle living on in our classroom. Congratulations Clare! ”

This week we are also celebrating Yvonne Stahlmann, the health and safety officer at The Catholic Education Centre. Yvonne was nominated by a colleague who said:

yvonne stahlmann“Yvonne has gone above and beyond with assisting with school issues and moving the board to an online reporting tool (EBase) to ensure compliance and to advance our applications.  Her dedication and amazing efforts are so appreciated!!”

Finally, we are celebrating Andrea Verral, an educational assistant at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic School. Andrea was nominated by several colleagues who said:

“I have not worked with Andrea for a long time, but from the moment this year started, I was instantly in awe of her dedication and love for the students she works with. The positive and nurturing environment she creates for her students is evident. Her warmth and love for them not only makes them feel safe, but also fosters their sense of belonging and engagement. Her playful nature and compassionate approach towards her students are admirable qualities. The ability to make the day fun and engaging creates a joyful and enthusiastic atmosphere for the students she works with. It'sandrea verral incredible to see how she infuses compassion into her interactions with her students, providing them with emotional support when needed. At recess, you can always find her having the most fun. Whether it be rolling down snow hills or helping them slide down hills, to building snowmen. Andrea goes above and beyond by taking on many leadership opportunities within the school. One example is assigning and assisting intermediate students with their jobs during the primary Christmas concert. She is in early every day, making sure she is well-prepared for all aspects of the day. She is definitely a rarity in her role, and it's clear the tremendous effort she puts in to ensure that her students are well taken care of. She is truly amazing and dedicated. We are not only lucky, but also blessed to have her as a member of the Sabrecat team!”

We would like to thank Clare, Yvonne and Andrea for their commitment to Catholic education at our board.
