Celebrating Staff LogoEvery week we celebrate SMCDSB staff members who have been recognized by a parent, student, or colleague.

This week we are celebrating George Ashford, Andrea Raimondo, and Nicole Scharb.

George is a teacher at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic George Ashford School. He was nominated by a colleague who said:

“George has been teaching for several years. He brings faith into everything he teaches. He has worn many hats; teacher, music teacher, SERT, librarian and TIC. His dedication to his students and school is amazing! He is a great support for his colleagues with his wonderful sense of humour. If you’re feeling down or your day is just not going the way you’d like, go see George he will brighten it up with his humour. George also commits to many organizations within our community such as Harvest Share making sure Parry Sound residents don’t go hungry. We are lucky to have George and I’m very proud of his accomplishments!”

Andrea RaimondoWe are also celebrating Andrea Raimondo this week. Andrea is a teacher at St. Thomas Aquinas Secondary School. She was nominated by a staff member who said:

“I have not known Andrea for very long but anyone who has met her knows she is a warm and caring educator. Andrea is always upbeat and positive and genuinely cares about her students and colleagues. She is very supportive, consistently offering to help with tech issues and reaching out to others just to check in with them. Andrea's passion for teaching along with her kind and generous nature help to create an amazing and collaborative work environment. She volunteers in a variety of capacities and helps to ensure that our school community is inclusive and safe. It is a pleasure to work with Andrea and she should be commended for her dedication to her students and for her professionalism.”

We are also celebrating Nicole Scharb this week. Nicole Nicole Scharb is an Education Assistant at St. Angela Merici Catholic School. She was nominated by a parent who said:

“She has personally worked with my son, as well as other students, building his independence. She takes the time to learn my child’s strengths and goals. She is the type of EA that is always open to hearing any concerns or questions you have about your child, and she always takes the time to stop and chat with you. She is always smiling, happy and ready to help your child become an independent learner.”

We would like to thank George, Andrea, and Nicole for their commitment to Catholic education at our board.
