SFA ChoirThe Barrie Kiwanis Music Festival is an annual event that brings musicians and performers together to compete for top prize.

The festival runs from April 11 - 28th and attracts competitors from all over the greater Barrie area. Organizers welcome over 500 entries in categories such as piano, string, voice and music theatre, and school and community ensembles. This year is special, as the Barrie branch of the festival celebrates its 40-year anniversary. Music is better shared, so the return of in-person performances was also worth celebrating.

This year was also memorable for students in the Grade 8 and the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School choirs. They gave a gold-winning performance! The St. Francis of Assisi choir performed “Lakeside Lullaby” by Jacob Narverud. The Grade 8 class performed “One More Day” arranged by Mark Brymer.

Congratulations to everyone that embraced this amazing opportunity. You demonstrated a lot of courage performing at the music festival. Your gold medal win is something that you will remember for years to come.
