The theme for Catholic Education Week 2021, “Nurturing Hope”, reminds us that publicly funded Catholic education is a call to service. Regardless of our position or our responsibilities within Catholic education, it is a calling to bring the message of Jesus Christ into the lives of those students and their families whom it is a privilege to serve in the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board.
Even though we are celebrating Catholic Education Week in a very different way this year, there are still many opportunities to recognize the good fortune that the gift of Catholic education affords each of us. During this week, it is fitting to express my thanks and gratitude to the people who work collaboratively and collectively to provide our students with a strong, vibrant, faith-based education in a safe and caring environment.
Each day this week, I am honoured to express my appreciation in the form of “thanks” to all those who play an integral role in the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board family.
Office and Clerical Staff are often the first face that our families, students and staff see and for most of this school year the first voice they hear. Their positivity, work ethic and optimism have fostered an environment that is welcoming to all.
Our Educational Assistants have demonstrated time and time again that they understand the uniqueness of every student they support and have displayed the highest degree of patience and understanding while overcoming the many obstacles that remote, as well as in-person learning, have presented throughout this school year.
Designated Early Childhood Educators have assisted our youngest learners with their transition to school, whether it be face-to-face or remote learning, through creative and engaging activities in the Kindergarten program.
Custodians continue to dedicate their days to ensuring that stringent cleaning protocols are implemented with due diligence and care so that we can provide a safe and healthy space where all staff and students can work and learn.
