This morning, our Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board family gathered to remember those who have served for peace and freedom.

We gave thanks for the great sacrifices made, and acknowledged the challenges our veterans still carry from their time overseas.

In our world, still marked by conflict, we prayed together for peace among nations and for justice to pave the way for real unity. It was a moment of remembering, but also about looking ahead with hope.

 In the profound silence of a room filled with people, we watched a unique reflection on the effect of war - capturing both the pain it inflicts and the promise of peace, all viewed through the lens of the animal world.

As we share this reminder, we invite our SMCDSB community to extend our thoughts to every corner of the globe where the creatures of God endure suffering due to the harsh realities of conflict and violence.  

Today and always, may God make us a means of his peace, so that we might sow His love, His joy and His mercy.
