The Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board (SMCDSB) would like to announce that for the 2022-2023 school year Maria Hardie will be the Board Chair and Janice Hutchison will be the Vice-Chair of the Board of Trustees. Chair Hardie represents Wards 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 in Barrie and Hutchison represents Essa, Essa-CFB, Adjala-Tosorontio, Adjala-Tosorontio-CFB and New Tecumseth.
Hardie has been a trustee with the Board since 2010, having served in the role of Chair for three years and Vice-Chair for four years. She lives in Barrie with her husband Michael and their two children are graduates of the Catholic system. Prior to her election as trustee, Maria was an office administrator with SMCDSB for 22 years before retiring from St. Nicholas Catholic School in Barrie.

I am looking forward to working collaboratively to further the goals of Catholic education in our province and to serve our families so that each of our students can realize their God-given potential.” said Maria Hardie, Board Chair.
Hutchison is serving her third term as trustee and has held the role of Vice-Chair four times, mostly recently in the 2021 school year. “Great progress has been made on our new multi-year strategic plan and Board governance and I look forward to working together as a unified board of trustees to continue this work.”
