Every week we celebrate SMCDSB staff members who have been recognized by a parent, student or colleague.

This week we are celebrating Nancy Pottage and a team at St. James Catholic School.

Nancy is a teacher at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School in Elmvale. She wasnancy pottage nominated by a parent, who said:

“Ms. Pottage is my child’s Grade 1 teacher. Ms Pottage is an enthusiastic and caring educator. This year she ran a Roots of Empathy program with the class: my child came home from school not just learning about empathy and human stages of growth, but she began to practice empathy at home in a much more self-aware manner. We thank Ms Pottage for building a classroom learning environment that is creative, passionate, engaging and inclusive. We loved the Poet-tree sharing day, math night, and hearing about zero the hero. And, just yesterday my daughter informed me that she was an Engineer for the week. Thank you Ms. Pottage!”

SJA TeamLucy Cubello, Melissa Albanese, Gabriel Jacklin and Yvonne Herring are staff at St. James Catholic School in Colgan. They were nominated by a colleague, who said:

“This team has done an unbelievable job at supporting and caring for a student they support. They work cohesively as a team and are always open to new strategies and suggestions. They take the time to listen and learn more from anyone who supports them and they will do anything for this student. They are a great group of individuals and I feel so blessed to work with them.”

We would like to thank Nancy, Lucy, Melissa, Gabriel and Yvonne for their commitment to Catholic education at our board.
