Every week we celebrate SMCDSB staff members who have been recognized by a parent, student or colleague.

This week we are celebrating Janet Cinnamon and Heather Ray.

Janet is a vice-principal at St. Peter's Catholic Secondary School in Barrie. She was nominated by a colleague, who said:

“Janet continually goes above and beyond for each and every student in our Jungle. She knows their vulnerabilities and responds in kind to each specific case. We are a high needs school and Janet knows how to reach everyjanet cinnamon student with her empathetic nature and her kind heart. The students are drawn to her because she is authentic and genuinely cares about them all. Their trust and respect for her is amazing as is their comfort in confiding and relying on her to help them.

In addition, she supports all staff members with their needs and is a compassionate listener who always has time to listen and support any student or staff member who is in need. Truly, Janet leads by example and everyone in our school is blessed by her commitment to education. She exemplifies this year's theme of Called to Be Our Story as she shares her triumphs and failures to encourage and inspire others. Janet's candor and ability to react fairly and swiftly is a huge benefit to our school. AND she does it all with a smile on her face and a fantastic sense of humour. We are blessed to have Janet in our Jungle and appreciate her every day. And let's not forget...no one can announce a lunch special quite like her! Where does she find those songs?!”

Heather Ray is a Speech and Language Pathologist at Academic Services in Barrie. She was nominated by a colleague, who said:

heather ray“Heather Ray is truly an asset to have work with us from the speech and language department.  When she comes into our school she is always pleasant to work with, has a smile, interacts positively to all of our students and has a wealth of information. Her reports are thorough, easy to understand (for teachers and parents), gives recommendations that can be used directly in the classroom, and even if there are concerns she makes herself available to answer any questions that we may have. We were blessed to have her and it’s been a pleasure working with her! Thank you Heather for all that you do! It is greatly appreciated.”

We would like to thank Janet and Heather for their commitment to Catholic education at our board.
