Every week we celebrate individuals in the SMCDSB community who have been recognized for going above and beyond to help others during the COVID-19 pandemic. This week we are celebrating Officer Harry Lawrenson and Veronica Pereira.

Harry Lawrenson is an OPP officer in the St. Paul's Catholic School Community.  He was nominated by a staff member who said:

"I work closely with the Nottawasaga OPP and New Tech Fire andharry lawrenson Rescue  at the school and when we started distance learning, they prepared periodic video check-ins and biweekly videos on current topics which our Kindergarten teachers posted to their classrooms.  Our OPP community services officer, Harry Lawrenson, organized the DARE program for our Grade 6 students and took the time to get to know all students at St. Paul's. He is a familiar face in our school with all of our staff, students and families. Throughout times of social distancing during the 2019/20 school year, Harry continued to spread his message to our students virtually.”

Veronica Pereira is a parent in the St. Paul's Catholic School community in Alliston. She was nominated by a family member who said:

veronia pereira"I
nominate Veronica Pereira because she is a hard and dedicated worker in the healthcare field. She has been working tirelessly to keep the public safe and to help keep from spreading the Covid-19 pandemic. She works at both Stevenson Memorial Hospital in Alliston and St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto. And she has a full time job on top all of that. She is a rockstar in my opinion. She is my angel.”

We would like to thank Officer Lawrenson and Veronica for their incredible effort in helping others during this time.
