As we all try to do our part to stop the spread of COVID-19, some individuals make good use of their time while safe at home. Grade 8 student Oonagh Pooke and her mother LeVern volunteered to assist the “Scrub Caps for the Superhero Nurses & Doctors at Stevenson Memorial Hospital. Not all heroes wear capes, some wear scrub caps” campaign.

The Holy Family Catholic School student and her mother dusted off their sewing machine and began stitching scrub caps for their hospital heroes. Although Oonagh had limited sewing experience, after her first test-cap was complete, she hit the ground running and has been leading the charge ever since. She has taken on the lead role, working long hours, and always ensures a quality product.

This mother-daughter duo embraced the campaign initiative whole heartedly and continue to do everything they can to help those in need.

Thank you Pooke family!
