SEPTEMBER 14, 2017 - BARRIE, ON: On Wednesday, September 20th the Board of Trustees for the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board (SMCDSB) will host its first meeting of the 2017-2018 school year at St. Dominic Catholic Secondary School in Bracebridge. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the school chapel with mass celebrated by His Excellency Most Reverend Bishop Miehm.

At the end of mass, there will be a commissioning celebration for the board's new student trustee McKenna McCoy. McKenna, a student from St. Dominic Catholic Secondary School, will represent the student voice at the trustee table for the more than 21,000 students who attend the 50 schools within the SMCDSB.

"I can't think of a better way to kick-off the 2017-2018 school year," said Carol Corriveau-Truchon, Board Chair. "Every year we host at least one of our board meetings at a school and this year we thought it would be fitting to join McKenna in her own community for her commissioning celebration. We are also so honoured to welcome Bishop Miehm to this wonderful school in the heart of Muskoka."

Board of Trustee meetings are open to the public and the SMCDSB welcomes members of the community to join in the celebration of mass.
