MusicFest at PFOWritten by Emily Fallows, Student Journalist

On April 26, Patrick Fogarty Catholic Secondary School (PF) in Orillia hosted a Music-fest Feast. Its theme was Toronto graffiti art, to go with their upcoming nationals performance in Toronto Ontario. The night was filled with ambient lighting, exhilarating talent in the music department, some good comfort food and a silent auction. The night was a wonderful display of the talents in the music department, with its Jazz band being the highlight of the night, playing over 15 different songs.

The silent auction had a wide variety of items such as a guitar, ukulele, gift certificates and much more to bid on. The department raised $1,200, and none of it would have been possible without student Maria B., music council and Mr. Hilts organizing the event.

Mr. Hilts, the music teacher at PF, explained how, “The night was a great way to showcase the jazz band and have it be featured in a more relaxed setting. It was really a night of seeing our community come together to support the department, with everyone just relaxing and enjoying some good music”.

At PF, the music department is a strong group of people, that love to join their talents together to perform beautiful pieces of music. All of the hard work that goes into their playing is shown off on a night like this, and is greatly appreciated by everyone.
