County of Simcoe and Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board host Emergency Preparedness Survivor Event
JOINT ADVISORY
Midhurst / May 4, 2018 – Emergency Management Simcoe County and the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board (SMCDSB), in collaboration with the Orillia Fire Department, Ontario Provincial Police, and County of Simcoe Paramedic Services, are hosting an Emergency Preparedness Survivor event at Patrick Fogarty Catholic Secondary School on May 8, 2018 from 1 to 9 p.m.
Students will learn how emergency services prepare for and respond to large-scale emergencies, as well as the importance of personal emergency preparedness at home, including knowing the risks in our area, making emergency plans, and assembling a 72-hour emergency preparedness kit.
Presentations will be delivered by:
- Orillia Fire Department and Rama Fire Rescue Service – CBRN/HAZMAT response
- Ontario Provincial Police - Mock search with Emergency Response Team and K9 Unit; Critical Incident Stress Response
- County of Simcoe Paramedic Services – Emergency medical treatment
- Emergency Management Simcoe County – Personal Emergency Preparedness
This event occurs during national Emergency Preparedness Week, May 6-12, 2018 to highlight the importance of personal emergency preparedness. Individuals and families are encouraged to plan, prepare and be aware. For more information, visit simcoe.ca/beprepared.
