Dual Credit Success Story: Victorea Borges

One of the amazing programs that the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board offers to students is the Dual Credit program. Dual Credit is a course where students receive a college and high school credit at the same time and is taught by college faculty and supported by a high school teacher.

Students who take the course are able to explore options for their future after secondary school. We are happy to showcase some of the success stories that are a result of the Dual Credit program.

From St. Joan of Arc C.H.S., Grade 12 student Victorea Borges was having a difficult time keeping up with four classes and trying to achieve the marks she needed. She decided to look into the dual credit program and enrolled in the Introduction to Marketing course at Georgian College in Barrie.

Victorea quickly saw improvement in her work and said, “With dual credit, I got time to really focus on all my classes throughout the week. On the days I went to dual credit, I found a place that I really shine and am able to show my knowledge and participate. Seeing as I want to get into marketing in the future, being able to take this class really teaches me a lot about what I will be learning and what to expect in college.”

In a different learning environment and with the flexibility to complete her work, Victorea has been excelling in her dual credit course and looks forward to pursuing marketing after high school.
