Hockey Canada program to be offered at St. Dominic Catholic Secondary School

JANUARY 5, 2016 - BRACEBRIDGE, ON: Beginning in September 2016, St. Dominic Catholic Secondary School in Bracebridge will offer the innovative Hockey Canada Skills Academy (HCSA) for Grade 9 and 10 students. HCSA is an unique program and staff and students at St. Dominic are excited that it will now be offered at their school. Students can choose the program as part of their course selection and receive two physical education credits, while at the same time improving their individual and technical hockey skills. The program emphasizes hockey skills as well as fitness, nutrition and leadership. Students will be provided with state of the art training aids, ice time, elite level coaching from certified instructors, as well as the opportunity to take part in several other community involvement programs.

MEDIA EVENT:

St. Dominic students and staff are inviting the media and other members of the public to an open house to learn more about this exciting program.

What:  Photo opportunity with students, as well as a chance to speak with the coaches involved in the program

Where:  St. Dominic Catholic Secondary School, 955 Cedar Lane, Bracebridge ON

When:  Thursday, January 14th, 2016 at 5 p.m. (school open house begins at 6 p.m. and media are welcome to stay)

Why:  Promote HCSA at St. Dominic Catholic Secondary School

The program will be offered during periods 1 and 2 of the first semester of the 2016-2017 school year and will be held at Bracebridge Memorial Arena. Students will receive two physical education credits upon completion of the course.
