Every week, we celebrate SMCDSB staff members who have been recognized by a parent, student or colleague.
This week, we are celebrating Vanessa Partland and

Susana Colletti, teachers at St. Charles Catholic School. Vanessa and Susana were nominated by a parent who said:
“They are the most passionate teachers who genuinely care and love their students. I don't know if anyone can fill their shoes as my son moves up another grade. I've seen them go above and beyond with each activity and lesson. Grateful to have them in this community.”

This week, we are also celebrating Michelle Spano, a teacher at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School. Michelle was nominated by a parent who said:
“She's always so sweet and caring. My son absolutely adores her. She prioritizes the kids in her class. An absolute gem of a teacher. We are so fortunate to have her.”
This week, we are also celebrating John Hammersley, a

teacher at St. Jean de Brébeuf Catholic School. John was nominated by a parent who said:
“Mr. Hammersley is very perceptive and responsive to individual students' needs. He’s kind, leads with Catholic faith, and demonstrates true empathy and understanding. As the school year progresses, Mr. Hammersley keeps on adapting to the evolving student needs by ensuring appropriate environment, social, and educational needs are continuously met. His inclusionary practices make all of the kids feel safe to be who they are. When they struggle, they know that he will help them through it, but also holds them accountable. From the words of my child, “He cares, he is so helpful, and he doesn’t let bullying happen.”
We would like to thank Vanessa, Susana, Michelle, and John for their commitment to Catholic education at our board.
