Celebrating Staff LogoEvery week we celebrate SMCDSB staff members who have been recognized by a parent, student or colleague.

This week we are celebrating Sonia Ciranni, a teacher at Sonia Ciranni St. Cecilia Catholic School. Sonia was nominated by two parents, who said:

“Mrs. Ciranni has been patient and kind with my son during his Grade 1 year. Under her guidance, I have seen my son become more comfortable and confident. The start of Grade 1 was not easy, with his kindergarten years being interrupted by COVID, but Mrs. Ciranni made this transition smooth. She has open communication with parents and has fair expectations from her students, from stories my son tells me. I am impressed with how well my son can read and I credit a lot of that to Mrs. Ciranni's teaching.”

“My son entered Grade 1 nervous and apprehensive. On the first day he came home with an award for finishing Grade one, given to him by his teacher. Within weeks he was comfortable and loving school. Mrs. Ciranni gave him that confidence. She is kind, patient, and she is fun. She is everything a primary teacher should be. We have been very happy with her this year and would love to see her have the recognition she deserves.”

Michelle FraserThis week we are also celebrating Michelle Fraser, a teacher at Holy Cross Catholic School. Michelle was nominated by a parent, who said:

“Ms. Fraser is such an amazing teacher. She has gone above and beyond to help my child. She has helped my child to make friends and foster those relationships. My daughter loves going to school everyday because of Ms. Fraser and she has accommodated her in the classroom while she had a cast without any hesitation. She’s such a delightful person and definitely deserves to be recognized for her commitment to the students in her class. Thanks, Ms. Fraser, for all that you do.”

We would like to thank Sonia and Michelle for their commitment to Catholic education at our board.
