Celebrating Staff LogoEvery week we celebrate SMCDSB staff members who have been recognized by a parent, student or colleague.

This week we are celebrating Santo Rizza, a custodian at St. Angela Merici Catholic School. Santo was nominated by a colleague, who said:

Santo Rizza“Santino as he is affectionately called, is humble, a hard worker, a good listener, a team player, and above all he takes pride in his work. He goes above and beyond to make sure the school is kept clean during and after school, he is a jack of all trades. Everybody loves to work with him because of his work ethics. I would like to nominate Mr. Rizza, he deserves to be celebrated. The student’s call him "beep beep" as the “road runner”.”

St. Teresa of Calcutta Community CouncilThis week we are also celebrating the St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic School Community Council. This group was nominated by staff and students at the school, who said:

“Our council works tirelessly to provide resources, opportunities, and organizes events for our school community. They go above and beyond the call to serve and support students, staff and families of St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic School. In less than three weeks, our council organized a back to school open house BBQ carnival night that was a huge success. Everything from food, carnival games, face painting to a cappuccino bar - you name it, they had it. Their enthusiasm and passion for their community was evident not only for this event but in all events that they have undertaken ~ during Covid, our council found many ways to keep the fabric of our community together by organizing monthly "Family Dinner Nights" supporting various local restaurants in Bradford. No event is out of reach for this council. As quoted by St. Teresa of Calcutta, our council demonstrates, "Faith in action is love - and love in action is service". Thank you for all you do for our school community. We are grateful and fortunate to have a dedicated CSCC.”

We would like to thank Santo and the community council at St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic School for their commitment to Catholic education at our board.
