Every week we celebrate SMCDSB staff members who a parent, student or colleague has recognized.
This week, we celebrate Mercedes Vasa, a designated

early childhood educator (DECE) at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School. Mercedes was nominated by a colleague who said:
“Mercedes Vasa is a kind, passionate, and hard-working DECE. She puts her heart into every project she volunteers her time for; from taking on bulletin boards, Shrove Tuesday and every day with her little kinders. Mercedes makes coming into the school a pleasurable experience with her smile. “God bless you!” She is a valuable part of our staff!”

This week, we also celebrate Victoria McNaney, a Notre Dame Catholic School teacher. Victoria was nominated by a colleague who said:
“Vicky is a true team player, always willing to collaborate, share ideas, and bring out the best in those around her. Her enthusiasm for teaching is contagious, and she continuously goes above and beyond to ensure her students feel valued, supported, and inspired to learn. Vicki’s unwavering commitment to her students and colleagues makes her an invaluable member of our school community, and we are truly blessed to have her. I feel very blessed to collaborate with her every day!”
We thank Mercedes and Victoria for their commitment to Catholic education at our board.
