Celebrating Staff LogoEvery week we celebrate SMCDSB staff members who have been recognized by a parent, student or colleague.

This week we are celebrating Lacey Matthews, a teacher at Saint Mary’s Catholic School in Huntsville. Susie was nominated by a colleague, who said:

“Lacey Matthews has a contagious high energy and Lacey Matthews passion for educating young minds. She always sees the best and the good in every child in the classroom. She connects with each and every child in a special way, personalized to each child's needs. She finds fun ways to teach Kindergarten students in literacy, numeracy and science. She is a great addition to Saint Mary's Catholic School and a gem to the FDK program.”

Amy MoreauAmy Moreau is a teacher at Notre Dame Catholic School. Amy was nominated by a parent, who said:

“Mrs. Moreau was our son’s Grade three teacher this past academic year. She truly was exceptional and went above and beyond to not only educate her students but to show how much she cared for them. One amazing thing that came from online learning was getting to witness our son's teacher in the classroom. She adapted to online learning and showed up everyday cheerful, animated and full of energy. I can only imagine what she would be like in the classroom. Mrs. Moreau checked in with parents and was extremely understanding and compassionate to individual struggles during this difficult school year. Our son says she is “the best teacher in the world and she teaches us really great things.”

Susie Quesnelle is an Educational Assistant at Sacred Susie Quesnelle Heart Catholic School. Susie was nominated by a colleague, who said:

“Susie is a very important part of our school community. She organizes staff lunches, and outside of Covid times, staff outings. Susie always offers help to supply staff and new staff to the school and makes them feel welcome. Her dedication and willingness to provide resources for her students is inspirational. She has been working as an Educational Assistant for many years and is always willing to learn new things and has enthusiasm for her work.”

We would like to thank Lacey, Amy, and Susie for their commitment to Catholic education at our board.
