Every week, we celebrate SMCDSB staff members who have been recognized by a parent, student, or colleague.
This week, we are celebrating Dave Gregg, a custodian at
St. Bernard’s Catholic School. Dave was nominated by a colleague who said:
“Mr. Gregg is an integral part of our school community. He is kind, helpful, and a bright presence for our students each and every day. He quietly goes about his work, however, he always takes the time to pause in the hallway to greet students and staff, often stopping for a friendly chat that makes others feel seen and valued.
He is someone you can always count on — consistently willing to lend a hand and more than happy to help wherever needed. Our school is incredibly fortunate to have such a steady, caring presence in our building.
Thank you for everything you do, Mr. Gregg.”
This week, we are also celebrating Nicole Lynch-Marwick, a teacher at Notre Dame Catholic School. Nicole was nominated by a colleague who said:
“Nicole Lynch-Marwick is a teacher who perfectly models our Board’s school year theme, “Be the Light.” After the recent changes to our sports programs this year, Nicole stepped up without hesitation and volunteered her time to ensure that our students could continue participating in athletics.
Nicole is someone who always sees the good in every situation and can turn your entire day around with her beaming smile. Anyone who knows her understands that her positive energy is truly contagious. Our community is so fortunate to have someone who leads with such joy, generosity, and heart.
Thank you for all that you do, Nicole!”
This week, we are also celebrating Rosanna Narducci, a
custodian at St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic School. Rosanna was nominated by a colleague who said:
“We are so grateful for our incredible lead custodian, Rosie, who truly goes above and beyond every single day. Rosie doesn't just keep our school spotless and safe, she takes genuine pride in creating a welcoming environment where students feel cared for and staff feel supported. She is always engaging with students in the halls, sharing a smile, or creating class challenges to help keep our school clean. Her positive attitude and steady presence boosts staff morale more than she probably realizes. Thank you, Rosie, for all of your early-morning snow-blowing, de-icing our walkways, and ensuring we are safe at school each and every day. Rosie's dedication, warmth, and tireless work ethic makes a lasting impact on our entire school community, and we are so lucky to have her leading the way.”
Finally, we are celebrating Frances Reid, a guidance counsellor at St. Peter’s Catholic Secondary School. Frances was nominated by a parent who said:
“I am writing to formally recognize and express my sincere gratitude for the exceptional support that Frances Reid is providing to our daughter, Carolyn. During an extraordinarily complex and challenging time for our family.
Frances has been nothing short of extraordinary. She is accountable, reliable, deeply empathetic, and unwaveringly caring. In a season where so much feels uncertain and overwhelming, she has been a steady and reassuring presence. Her consistent communication, thoughtful flexibility, and genuine commitment to C’s well-being have made it possible for our daughter to remain engaged in her education while we navigate significant mental health complexities.
What stands out most is not only Frances’s professionalism, but her heart. She approaches her role as a true educational partner — meeting C where she is, adapting when needed, and ensuring that learning remains accessible and supportive rather than another source of stress. She balances high standards with compassion in a way that has protected C’s confidence and dignity during a vulnerable period.
Quite honestly, I am not sure how I would manage everything currently on our plate without her partnership. The stability and advocacy she provides allow me to focus on the broader care coordination our daughter requires, knowing that her schooling is being handled with integrity and kindness.
Please know that Frances’s efforts are deeply appreciated. She is making a meaningful difference not only academically, but emotionally. We are profoundly grateful to have her supporting our family.”
