Every week, we celebrate SMCDSB staff members who have been recognized by a parent, student, or colleague.
This week, we are celebrating Cassandra Daly, a teacher

at Holy Family Catholic School. Cassandra was nominated by a colleague who said:
“Cassandra is a supportive and welcoming member of our Holy Family school community. She welcomes students and staff alike into collaboration with her in the activities she cultivates in the Learning Commons to ensure they engage interests, curriculum areas and help our students grow. Cassandra also goes out of her way to meet new staff in LTOs or supply staff to show them around and offer support. She is warm and welcoming and so creative!”

This week, we are also celebrating Lisa Hagen, an office administrator at St. Theresa’s Catholic High School. Lisa was nominated by a parent who said:
“I am writing as a parent to express my sincere appreciation and recognition for Lisa Hagen, your outstanding high school secretary at St. Theresa’s High School. From every interaction I have had, Lisa consistently demonstrates a remarkable level of professionalism and care. She is incredibly knowledgeable and always provides clear, helpful information, making even the most complicated situations feel manageable. Her ability to communicate effectively and kindly truly stands out.
What sets Lisa apart most is her genuine kindness and willingness to help. No matter how busy things may be, she always takes the time to listen, assist, and ensure that concerns are addressed. She approaches her work with patience, warmth, and a positive attitude that makes a meaningful difference to students and families alike.
Lisa is also exceptionally efficient—she gets things done promptly and thoroughly, which brings a great sense of trust and reliability to the school community. It is clear that she takes pride in her role and goes above and beyond to support everyone who walks through the office doors.
As a parent, it is reassuring to know that someone as capable, compassionate, and dedicated as Lisa is there to support our children and families. She is truly an invaluable member of your school.”
We are also celebrating Burgundy Laforet, an

educational assistant at Notre Dame Catholic School. Burgundy was nominated by a colleague who said:
“Miss B, as the children call her, is a positive ray of sunshine that goes above and beyond to help her students reach their full potential each and every day! Her strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to step in to support others do not go unnoticed! Miss B sets a great example for all those around her every day. She brings professionalism, dedication and a team-first mindset at all times!
Miss B embodies core catholic values in her daily work- treating others with dignity and respect, showing a genuine spirit of service, and leading with integrity. Her actions reflect a commitment to community, care, and doing what is right even when it's not the easiest path!
Thank you Miss B for all you do!”
We would like to thank Cassandra, Lisa, and Burgundy for their commitment to Catholic education at our board.
