Every week, we celebrate SMCDSB staff members who have been recognized by a parent, student, or colleague.
This week, we are celebrating Carla Acevedo, a teacher

at St. Marie of the Incarnation Catholic School. Carla was nominated by a colleague who said:
“I am honoured to nominate Carla, whose endless patience, kindness, and dedication create a joyful and nurturing environment where young learners feel loved, confident, and excited to grow each day. You are amazing, Carla!”

This week, we are also celebrating Sabrina Bandeira, a teacher at St. Monica’s Catholic School. Sabrina was nominated by a parent who said:
“Ms. Bandeira is kind, caring, and goes above and beyond for students. She takes the time to get to know their strengths and gives them confidence for items they need to work on. She is very patient with the kids and wants them to succeed. She is willing to spend extra time with the children to ensure they understand the lessons. She communicates effectively with parents to create a great home-school work environment. We appreciate all the things you do. Ms. Bandeira consistently goes above and beyond for her students. She genuinely cares about their success and understands that every student is unique. She takes the time to recognize their individual needs and works hard to support them in any way she can. Her compassion and encouragement help students build confidence and feel supported both in and out of the classroom. Ms. Bandeira’s dedication makes a meaningful difference in the lives of her students.”
We are also celebrating Cara Fournier, a teacher at

Sacred Heart Catholic School. Cara was nominated by a colleague who said:
“Cara pours her heart into her kindergarten classroom each day, even while managing a very busy group of learners. Through patience, creativity, and genuine care, she has intentionally built a space where every child is included and always feels welcomed. Cara takes the time to truly know her students, meeting them where they are and celebrating their individual strengths. Her classroom is a place of kindness, inclusion, and belonging, where students feel safe to take risks, build confidence, and grow socially and emotionally. Despite the challenges that come with a full and energetic class, Cara remains committed to creating a calm, nurturing environment that supports every child. Her dedication, compassion, and tireless efforts make a meaningful difference in the lives of her students each day.”

Last but certainly not least, we are celebrating Elsa Francisco, an educational assistant at St. Charles Catholic School. Elsa was nominated by a colleague who said:
“Elsa Francisco is a dedicated and passionate educational assistant who consistently demonstrates genuine care and compassion for every child she supports. She brings professionalism, patience, and strong commitment to her role, always prioritizing student well-being and success. Elsa’s positive presence and dedication help create a respectful, supportive learning environment where children feel safe and motivated.”
We would like to thank Carla, Sabrina, Cara, and Elsa for their commitment to Catholic education at our board.
