Every week, we celebrate SMCDSB staff members who have been recognized by a parent, student, or colleague.
This week, we are celebrating Beth May, an educational

assistant at St. Bernard’s Catholic School. Beth was nominated by a colleague who said:
“I want to recognize Mrs. Beth May, who returned to our school in September and has truly embodied our board’s motto, “Be the Light.” Mrs. May is the light in our school community. Her infectious laughter can be heard echoing down the halls, instantly lifting spirits and creating a joyful, welcoming environment for both students and staff. She brings a genuine love of learning into every classroom she supports, sharing her God-given musical talents in ways that engage, inspire, and connect with children. Mrs. May’s warmth, energy, and dedication make an incredibly positive difference each and every day. We are so grateful to have her—she is a shining example of what it means to make a meaningful impact.”

This week, we are also celebrating Katie Mitchell, an educational assistant at Notre Dame Catholic School. Katie was nominated by a colleague who said:
“Katie Mitchell is an exceptional Educational Assistant who brings positivity and kindness to our school each and every day. She is always happy, welcoming and ready to support both students and staff with a smile. Her dedication to the students she works with is clear in the patience, care and encouragement she shows daily. She is a true team player who is always willing to help wherever needed and contributes so much to creating a positive school environment. Katie is truly a joy to be around and our school is so lucky to have her!”
We would like to thank Beth and Katie for their commitment to Catholic education at our board.
