Every week we celebrate SMCDSB staff members who have been recognized by a parent, student or colleague. This week we are celebrating Amanda Hopkins and Rebecca De Vries.

Amanda is a teacher at Sister Catherine Donnelly Catholic School and was nominated by a parent who said:

“Grade one teacher, Amanda Hopkins, goes above and beyond for herAmanda Hopkins students every day. My daughter was having issues reading and disliked it. After being enrolled in Ms. Hopkins's class, she has moved up levels and wants to read! She makes learning fun for the students; she teaches in a way that models Jesus and what our faith calls us to do. To appreciate each student for whom they are and help them realize the talents which are instilled in them from God. She teaches with passion, and it's clear that she loves her job and the students she helps inspire. The world needs more teachers like Ms. Hopkins, and I am so grateful that my daughter was part of her Grade one class.”

This week, we are also recognizing Rebecca De Vries, a teacher at Holy Trinity Catholic High School. She was nominated by a student who said:

rebecca de vries“My name is Kiarash, and I am a student of Ms De Vries. Over the last 6 months, it has been a joy to have her as my co-op teacher, and she is one of the most awesome and cool teachers we have at Holy Trinity Catholic High School.”

We would like to thank Amanda and Rebecca for thir commitment to Catholic education at our board.
