At the heart of education is the opportunity to learn, connect, and grow. For Katelyn Cudmore, a St. Joseph's Catholic High School graduate, that journey took her to the Indspire National Education Conference in Winnipeg. This event, which took place in December, celebrates Indigenous identity, knowledge, and education.
Katelyn is a youth representative for the Barrie South Simcoe Métis Council studying education at Nipissing University. She is committed to creating welcoming and relevant classrooms for Indigenous students. At the conference, she learned how to include Indigenous perspectives and land-based learning in her future teaching, which will also benefit her local Métis community.
We are proud to see our grads engaged in such meaningful initiatives!
