Death of Pope Francis

Death of Pope Francis
Posted on 04/21/2025

With deep sadness, we join the world in mourning the passing of His Holiness, Pope Francis. As the 266th Pope and successor of St. Peter, he led the Catholic church with humility, service, and mercy, touching the lives of millions—including our school communities.

Pope Francis reminded us that “a little bit of mercy makes the world less cold and more just.” He lived this message throughout his papacy, calling us to serve others, care for our common home, and build a welcoming, inclusive Church rooted in love and justice.

As a Catholic school board, Pope Francis played a particularly important role in the lives of our students and staff. His leadership reflected the values we strive to instill in our schools—faith, compassion, justice, and - especially this year - hope.

As we mourn his passing, we also give thanks for his life and leadership. May we honour his legacy by living our faith with compassion and courage. We invite our school communities to keep Pope Francis in their prayers and reflect on his teachings, which will continue to inspire future generations.

May he rest in eternal peace.
