September 21, 2026 - Barrie, ON: Dénia Blake, a Grade 11 student at St. Peter’s Catholic Secondary School, has been sworn in as the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board’s newest Student Trustee. Dénia was elected to a two-year term beginning August 1, 2026, and will serve alongside returning Student Trustee Melissa Fransa of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Secondary School.

Having served on Student Senate, Dénia is passionate about amplifying student voice and ensuring students are heard, included and informed about Board initiatives. As Student Trustee, she hopes to advocate for students and help ensure their perspectives are represented at the Board table.

“I want to amplify the student voice and make sure no one is excluded, ignored or dismissed based on a label or social prejudice,” said Dénia Blake, Student Trustee.

Dénia brings leadership experience from her involvement in athletics, student leadership and community service. She is a coach with a local rowing club and was selected to participate in the Rotary Club’s Adventure in Citizenship Program in Ottawa. Former St. Peter’s Catholic Secondary School Principal McNamara described Denia as a recognized leader within the school community.

Dénia’s two-year term will continue through July 31, 2028.
