The Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board (SMCDSB) celebrated the success of its annual Christmas Wish Campaign, which once again demonstrated the extraordinary generosity and compassion of its school communities and staff.

Led by Lynn Thompson in the Human Resources department, this year’s campaign supported 55 families and 156 children, ranging from infants to older siblings, as well as parents. Through the collective efforts of schools, employees, retirees, and community partners, the campaign raised $26,890.99, ensuring families received holiday gifts, food support, and essential items.

“The Christmas Wish Campaign reflects the heart of our board,” said Thompson. “Every donation, fundraiser, and act of kindness helps ensure families in our community feel supported and remembered during the holidays.”

Funds were raised through a wide range of initiatives, including school-based fundraisers, payroll donations, and special events such as bake sales and barbecues. The campaign also benefited from the generosity of staff groups, unions, retirees, and community organizations, who contributed gift cards, toys, and financial donations.

A small army of volunteers who worked behind the scenes helped make this year’s campaign a resounding success.

“This initiative is a powerful reminder of what we can accomplish together,” said Kimberly Dixon, Director of Education. “We are incredibly grateful to everyone who helped make the holidays brighter for so many SMCDSB families.”
