“Because we have this hope in us, we can be very bold”
(2 Corinthians 3:12)

Every year, our Board chooses a spiritual theme. For the 2020-21 school year, our theme is “Reignite Our Hope”.

For many people, the challenges of COVID-19 in recent months have made it difficult to look to the future with hope and confidence. Many people in our communities find themselves feeling deflated and “hope-less”. At a time like this, we all need encouragement and reassurance, as we re-imagine what Catholic education will look like, in a world that has changed dramatically, and is still changing.

Together with faith and love, hope is one of the three central virtues in Christianity. Unlike purely secular forms of hope, Christian hope roots us in our relationship with God, and in God’s unshakeable love. Even in the midst of difficult moments, hope reminds us that God is always with us, sustaining and guiding us. It gives us courage to stand up for our faith, including the demands of justice and peace-making. It helps us to remember that, with God, no failure is final, and no one can ever be written off as unredeemable. It reminds us of the possibilities of growth, transformation and newness.

This year, we call upon the fiery power of God’s Holy Spirit to rekindle that hope in our hearts, our families and our school communities. We want to open ourselves to the amazing things God has in store for us, and to build with Jesus a bright and promising future, of healing, togetherness and joy.
