Trustee Francis Smith Celebrates 25 Years at SMCDSB
Posted on 12/04/2020

On December 2, 2020 at the initial board meeting, Trustee Francis Smith was honoured by his fellow trustees for 25 years of service. Throughout his service to the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board (SMCDSB), he has been a relentless advocate for Catholic education and played an invaluable role in the growth and development of our Board.

Francis Smith started his role as a trustee at SMCDSB in 1986 and has since served as Board Chair five times and Vice-Chair three times. Through his leadership as a skilled and experienced trustee, he has been responsible for many successes and accomplishments including opening many new schools during a vibrant growth period in the 1990s. He is known for keen oversight, setting strong direction and effective decision making.

In his 25 years, he’s certainly seen the Board transform in many ways, but one thing has stayed constant - he has always kept the best interest of staff and students at the forefront of every question asked and every decision made.

From everyone at the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board, we sincerely thank Trustee Francis Smith for 25 years of support, guidance and dedication.
