Dear Families,

The Ontario government made an announcement yesterday regarding a province-wide lockdown that will begin on December 26th and will impact our return to school in the New Year.

The current information we have from the Ministry of Education indicates that students will not be returning to face-to-face learning at our schools on January 4th. All elementary and secondary students will learn remotely by accessing their virtual classroom, which has already been set up by your child’s teacher. Our school buildings will be closed to students as follows:

  • Kindergarten to Grade 8 - January 4th to January 8th all elementary students working remotely from home and school buildings closed to students. Face to face learners will return to school on January 11th.
  • Grade 9 to Grade 12 - January 4th to January 22nd all secondary students working remotely from home and school buildings closed to students. Face to face learners will return to school on January 25th.

Learning expectations, curriculum delivery and assessment will continue. We recognize that some families may have questions or concerns related to what this temporary change means for their child. At this time, we want our students, families and staff to focus on the peace and joy of the Christmas season. We will reach out to families again next week with additional information.

Please continue to stay healthy, safe and follow public health guidelines - the collective efforts of our entire community will help ensure that our schools can reopen again soon.

Yours in Faith,

Frances Bagley

Director of Education
