On February 22nd, St. Paul's Catholic School’s Glee club recorded their take on the updated Canadian national anthem at Central Ontario Broadcasting’s studio in Barrie.

St. Paul’s Glee Club students travelled from their school in Alliston to Rock 95/KoolFM in Barrie to sing the newly updated version of O Canada; replacing the line “in all thy sons command" with "in all of us command." Their recording will be sent out to all schools within the board to be used for morning announcements.

The students, ranging from Grade 5 to 8, are all very passionate about singing, and are excited to attend St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Secondary School in the coming years; where they hope to continue singing and contributing to the SMCDSB community.

They will be heading to Nationals at The Show Choir Canada Junior Championships once again on April 6, 2018 at St. Elizabeth’s Theater, Toronto.

The students were happy to be interviewed, and talked of the many skills they learned through the group; including harmonizing and teamwork. The students enthusiastically said, “I will always be singing, my dream was to be on this team and improve my singing, so it’s great to be on this team”

The students practice multiple times per week, and it takes up a lot of their recesses - they are pretty dedicated and it’s a big part of their lives, at school especially, but it definitely pays off.

They also sang at the board Christmas Mass for everyone who works at the school board. The group was also recorded by CTV singing their rendition of Canada’s revised national anthem.

The team at Central Ontario Broadcasting were patient and generous with their time. Their work with St. Paul’s Glee Club will be remembered for many years to come; as their song is broadcasted throughout the Board each and every school day.
