Board Chair and Vice-Chair Announced at Catholic Board

DECEMBER 7, 2017 - BARRIE, ON: At the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board's initial board meeting on Wednesday, December 6th, Carol Corriveau-Truchon was acclaimed as Board Chair and Maria Hardie was elected as Vice-Chair of the Board of Trustees.

 

Carol Corriveau-Truchon represents Huntsville, Muskoka Lakes, Lake of Bays, Bracebridge, Gravenhurst, Georgian Bay and Parry Sound. Carol was elected to the Board of Trustees in 2010 and served as Chair last year. Carol lives in Bracebridge with her husband Gilles. She has four children who all graduated from St. Dominic Catholic Secondary School in Bracebridge.

 

“I am honoured and humbled to serve as Chair for another term. I have learned a lot over the past year and look forward to continuing our work together in the upcoming year,” said Carol Corriveau-Truchon, Board Chair. “I feel so blessed to work with a great team of trustees who always take care to make decisions based on their commitment to providing our students with the best possible Catholic education.”

 

Maria Hardie represents wards 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 of Barrie and has been a trustee with the board since 2010. Maria completed three terms as Chair of the Board and this will be her second year serving as Vice-Chair. She lives in Barrie with her husband Michael. Their two children are graduates of the Catholic system. Prior to her election as trustee, Maria was a school secretary with the Board for 22 years before retiring from St. Nicholas Catholic School in Barrie.

 

I thank my fellow trustees for their support as I continue my role as Vice-Chair for the next year," said Maria Hardie. "I look forward to working closely with our Chair and with all the trustees to champion Catholic education and at the same time contribute to improving learning opportunities for the students of the SMCDSB."
