Posted on 11/25/2016

On Tuesday, November 22, the County of Simcoe received a 2016 Economic Developers Association of Canada (EDAC) Marketing Canada Award for their 2015 Skilled Trade Expo. This award celebrates the incredible collaboration of local organizations which made the Expo a tremendous success.

The County of Simcoe, Simcoe County District School Board, Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board, Simcoe Muskoka Workforce Development Board, Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program, City of Orillia, City of Barrie, Springwater Township, and the Flos Agricultural Society, provided students with the opportunity to participate in hands-on demonstrations and interactive displays relating to dozens of skilled trades available in Simcoe County.

Students from Simcoe County were enlightened by the hundreds of skilled trades available to them for their post-secondary future. You can watch highlights from the 2016 Skilled Trade Expo below.

We would like to thank everyone for their amazing efforts in making the event such a success. This award is a great example of the incredible things we can achieve when we work together.

The 2017 Skilled Trade Expo will be held on May 24. For more information about the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP), you can visit the OYAP page on our board website.
