As a Catholic community, one of our priorities is to nurture a sense of belonging and inclusiveness for everyone. That is why all schools and board office locations at the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board are designated as “scent free.”

Did you know scents can cause severe health implications? An allergy to scent can be just as severe as a food allergy and that is why we are committed to creating a safe environment for all students, staff and visitors.

A scent is a smell or odour from products and can be natural such as flowers or synthetic such as perfume. Examples of products that may have scents include shampoos, deodorant, hairspray, soap, detergents, perfumes, lotions, candles and cleaning products.

Not using scented products is a simple thing to do and it will help ensure a safe and comfortable environment for everyone.
