Our 2019 Outstanding Graduates

From a musical composer and engineer to a Paralympic athlete and veteran, the 2019 recipients of the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board’s Outstanding Graduates program are nothing short of incredible. This program, which is now in its seventh year, takes a peek into the lives of some very extraordinary people. One graduate from each of the nine Catholic high schools in the board is recognized during Catholic Education Week. This year’s recipients are:

 

St. Peter’s Catholic Secondary School - Barrie, ON

Adam Jones is a Canadian veteran, Invictus Games athlete, public speaker and advocate whose resilience in overcoming personal challenges serves as an inspiration to others. 

 

St. Theresa’s Catholic High School - Midland, ON 

Ian Cusson is a French-Canadian and  Métis composer of art song, opera and orchestral works and the inaugural Composer-in-Residence with the Canadian Opera Company. 

 

St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Secondary School - Tottenham, ON

Maureen Carney is a Certified Child Life Specialist at the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) in Toronto, providing support to patients, parents and siblings undergoing treatment. 

 

Patrick Fogarty Catholic Secondary School - Orillia, ON

Lisa Harrington is a registered pharmacist in Brantford and the recipient of the University of Waterloo’s President’s Scholarship of Distinction 

 

Holy Trinity Catholic High School - Bradford West Gwillimbury, ON

Brendan McCardle is a Senior Program Officer with Right To Play in British Columbia, collaborating with Indigenous communities and organizations to promote positive child and youth development. 

 

St. Dominic Catholic Secondary School - Bracebridge, ON

Collin Cameron is a Gold medalist at the 2019 World Para Nordic Skiing Championships and bronze medalist at the 2018 Paralympic Games in Korea. 

 

St. Joan of Arc Catholic High School - Barrie, ON

Brendan Hiles is a writer, director, producer and editor of film who has won several awards and recognitions including the Barrie Emerging Artist of the Year Award. 

 

Jean Vanier Catholic High School - Collingwood, ON

Jamie Barill is an Engineer Associate at Barill Engineering Limited, recipient of the Rotary Club of Collingwood South Georgian Bay Award and avid community volunteer. 

 

St. Joseph’s Catholic High School - Barrie, ON

Nicole Vollebregt is Senior Vice-President of Global Purpose at Adidas and named the company’s first-ever Global Head of Women’s Business.
