Lent - Believe the Good News
Ash Wednesday is the day that, as Christians, we begin the Lenten journey to Easter. Many people attend church to receive ashes on their forehead. The ashes help to connect us to God’s eternal springtime. It is a time to begin new growth - wearing the ashes is an opportunity to begin again from the ground up.
Through prayer, fasting and helping those in need we become more and more like Christ.
Behold the cross Move your family’s crucifix so it is near whatever door you use most - it will serve as a daily visual reminder of Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross.
Seek Reconciliation There will be opportunities in every parish to seek the sacrament during Lent.
Fasting During Lent, we can fast from things we like to do (like eat sweets) or things we should not do (roll our eyes while another person is talking).
Almsgiving Almsgiving is so much more than giving money. We can give of ourselves through service to others.
